I saw a picture of the pan fried buns and that's what made me want to come here. I haven't had those buns in over 5 years so I decided to come here! I came with my boyfriend on a Friday night a little over 8pm. The restaurant was still pretty full but there was no line. I think it gets busier earlier in the night because I saw a lot of people on the wait list and there were two parties sharing a big table.
Food - My boyfriend and I ordered four dishes to share with leftovers to take home of course.
*Pan fried buns - The reason I wanted to come here! The skin is very tick and the bottom is crunchy. Thee are the bet when eaten hot but not right after it is served because the soup inside can burn your tongue. I loved this a lot!
*Sweet and sour ribs - The sauce is brown and tastes more gingery than Cantonese ones but still good!
*Salted fish and chicken fried rice - Good!
*Fish fillet and woodear with wine sauce - This dish is made with rice wine and the taste is pretty strong so if you don't like rice wine, I wouldn't recommend. I liked it though! The fish was soft and slippery.
Service - Simple service here. The type of restaurant that won't bother you unless you flag them down. However, they help you pack your food to go!
Ambiance - Pretty big restaurant for big or small parties!
Overall, I enjoyed my meal a lot here. The menu is huge and there are a lot of picture to help you out if you aren't sure what the dish is. However, the organization of the menu can be pretty confusing because the picture are on a different page than the number of the item so you have to flip back and forth. There are also family set meals you can order. I'd love to come back here and try other popular Shanghainese dishes. -

We decided to try this place out because our favorite XLB place was closed and we are glad we did! We got two orders of shanghai dumplings, the beef noodle soup, and snow pea tips sautéed in garlic.
Overall, the food was good. The soup dumplings were pretty standard. They had a good flavor, had a decent amount of soup inside and came out fresh! The skin and flavor are similar to most soup dumplings I have had in Cupertino (good flavor and skin is not the thinnest but definitely not thick). The beef noodle soup was a hit! I especially liked that it was not spicy like most restaurants serve it. The broth is deeply flavorful and the meat was very tender. We got chili oil brought to the table so that we could add whatever amount of spice we wanted. The snow pea tips were very fresh and not greasy with a nice garlic flavor.
The service was definitely better than I have had in a lot of Chinese restaurants. The waiters sat us immediately and were attentive and responsive to our needs. The food came out fast and the restaurant itself isn't too crowded or loud. I definitely could see myself coming back to this restaurant! -

Really good! Came here for lunch with my bf and his best friend. We ordered lamb cabbage soup, 生煎包, dan dan noodles, fish and tofu skillet. Our favorites were the soup and the noodles! Such good flavor and BIG portions. The skillet was pretty good as well, what actually disappointed all of us were the pan fried dumplings. I was really expecting that to be super yummy, but it turned out just ok. They weren't juicy enough and were actually kinda tough, idk, but we weren't a fan of that.
Price for all of that plus tip came out to be $20 each person with leftovers!!! That is a win in my book! -

Came in recently to eat at dinner twice in the last few months and I think the portion sizes are definitely better when you eat there compared to take out. Weekends and evenings can get crowded so come early or make a reservation.
The pan fried buns are still good as always, and the rest of the dishes seem less oily than when we get them in takeout. However! We ordered shanghai rice cakes (we usually get a different kind) and they were too salty, almost drowning in soy sauce. Not great. Will be sticking with our usual order instead.
One of the times, we got a dessert at the end of our meal (西米露 "sago"). This last time, we didn't. Apparently you get it only if you get their combo/set meals. They gave it to us by mistake that time lol.
Anyways, still a decent place for Shanghai staples like 菜飯 and pan fried buns. Get their 薺菜肉絲炒年糕 and not the "Shanghai style" ones. -

I went given a try this place and I ordered the sizzling beef and really looks good in the picture. By the time I open it gosh this is how it looks like! See picture above it's absolutely ridiculous I don't see any beef pretty much I see the whole bunch of onions and green peppers. This is how they make their money a very stingy restaurant. I would not recommend this place.
